I still hadn't made enough money to get us home so I had to work. Most of my friends were
parading in their own homegrown krewe as is the habit of the natives. I decided I needed
to have fun too, so I joined the parade, had a mimosa morning and got to wear a fabulous
costume from Royal Rags.It was a renaissance style white gown with a wire thing over my
head so to appear as a halo of stars. I'd been saving a sequined butterfly mask for the
day, but field of vision was more important than covering my face. We were a courtly krewe,
parading up and down as if we owned the quarter. Our court included a king&queen, a god
(Bacchus), a goddess and her attendants, a standard bearer, a fairygirl and MotherMary,
and an accordion-playing jester named Oliver. We were stunning. NEXT...
